Kogan Art on Exhibit in California Museum

8/01/07Sacramento, CA

While her art is currently on display at MTV Networks, Save the Children headquarters, the Pacific Design Center, and in private collections nationwide, Kogan’s art had not been exhibited in a museum – until now.

Museum Director Bill Trinkle personally reached out to California Flag Artist, Jillian Kogan, requesting the opportunity to display a broad range of her flag artwork in his museum. Her work can also be viewed on their web site alongside the flag history, Bear Flag Laws, and galleries of artifacts.

About the Museum

In the mid-20th Century, statutes were adopted requiring the flying of the Bear Flag at various buildings and locations within the State.  In 1953, the design of the Bear Flag was standardized.

Established in 1996, The Bear Flag Museum is a non-profit museum devoted to collection of all materials and information about the California Bear Flag (www.bearflagmuseum.org).  They are recognized by NAVA, a group devoted to the serious study of flags from a multidisciplinary view.

The inspiration of William J. (“Bill”) Trinkle, a California attorney and member of the North American Vexillological Association (“NAVA”), The Bear Flag Museum was established in Sacramento where Trinkle has continued to build a large collection of flag memorabilia and pieces of California history. On February 3, 2011, the Bear Flag will celebrate its Centennial Anniversary as the Flag of the State of California.
